meet Atia. mirasa's no.1

Meet my neice Atia. Now 9 years old, Atia inspired the creations of mirasa's original My Fun collection when she was 1. If you've been part of mirasa's journey of Handmade Imagination, you have seen Atia in all our shoots. Atia is a beautiful, strong willed and a mature young girl. Read on and get to know her.

m= mirasa
A= Atia

m: What's your favorite pretend game?
A: Don’t know! I really love animals and I love fantasy so I like to pretend I’m a talking animal.

m: What's the best part about being a girl?
A: The best part about being a girl is being able to run with a great group called Girls On The Run where a bunch of us girls get together to practice running with the goal of running a 5K and also we talk about planning for our dreams to make them happen and we also do a community service project.

m: What's your favorite sport?
A: My favorite sport is tennis because there is a lot of running involved and it is just super fun to play the game.

m: Do you enjoy reading? Can you share some of your favorite books/ authors? and why?
A: I LOVE to read! Here are some books I like to read: - The whole Harry Potter series (J.K. Rowling)
- The Percy Jackson series (Rick Riordan)
- Any book written by Gail Carson Levine
- Graphic novels by Raina Telgemeier
So basically I like mythology, fantasy, and comedy. I also like a lot of graphic novels!

m: Who is your inspiration or role model?
A: J.K. Rowling because “she writes with so much imagination and I hope to someday write stories like her.”

m: What do you want to be when you grow up?
A: I want to be an author and illustrator.

m: If you had $10 in your pocket, what would you buy?
A: Art supplies! That is what I always want to spend my money on.

m: What's the yummiest ice cream flavor?  with or without toppings? Yes to toppings? Which ones?
A: The best ice cream flavor has to be cotton candy! YES, yes, yes to toppings. I like rainbow sprinkles and gummy bears on my ice cream.

Thank you Atia! It was really fun reading your answers. I'm glad you enjoyed our Q & A :)

Cheers.

I think we started reading to our son from the first day of his life. Of course we were following Baby Center's advise on early reading and diligently incorporating a book into his  bedtime routine with hope of a good night's rest. But it was also one of our favorite things to do with our baby.

The other day, as I was walking down our neighbourhood sidewalk full of crunchy vermillion, ochre and brown leaves I noticed beautiful leaf impressions. Just as I was about to take a photo to keep this impression forever in my digital memory box I decided to hold it in my heart.

When motherhood gets the best of you and you feel like giving up

This weekend motherhood got the better of me, what was supposed to be a fun filled weekend with adventure and memories, turned into a miserable few days with me eating chocolate in my bathroom because where else can you go to be alone right? I thought I was doing everything right; I made all her favorite foods, of which she refused to eat none. We then took out all her favorite toys to play with but she wasn’t having any of it, the more toys came out the more screams she let out.
